Hosts with a passion.
At the Sonnfeld, the Berger-Habe family looks after its guests personally. Marina welcomes you at reception, Renate prepares breakfast in the morning, and in the evening Alex, Alois and Angela cook for you. Familiar faces, short distances and genuine hospitality – that's our idea of a holiday.
Our roots go back a long way: the first documented mention of our distillery dates from 1941. Today Alexander Habe runs the distillery and combines tradition with new ideas – like our multi-award-winning Alpengin.
We deliberately stay small: with a maximum of 30 guests at a time, we have time for each and every one – for a chat at the bar, a personal wine recommendation or a tip for the most beautiful hike in the valley.

Reception · Certified sommelièreMarina is your first point of contact – from your enquiry to your departure. In the evening she runs the service together with Renate and, as a certified sommelière, finds the right wine for your menu. Her second passion: the Styrian accordion.

Kitchen · DistilleryThe creative mind of the house: Alex cooks together with Alois and his mother Angela and, as a distiller and fruit-brandy sommelier, runs our own distillery – from the selected fruit to the finished Alpengin.

Kitchen · House musicAlois is usually to be found in the kitchen. In his free time he goes for walks in the forest or picks up the accordion – together with Marina he provides the house music at the Sonnfeld.

Breakfast · ServiceRenate is the first in the house every morning and lovingly prepares the breakfast buffet. In the evening she welcomes you in a dirndl and makes sure you lack nothing.

Our garden is watered 100 % with our own spring water.
Less waste
Reusable cloth napkins in the restaurant, washable hand towels in the public toilets.
Against waste
Deliberately measured portions – and we are happy to serve more. Every year 587,000 tonnes of food end up in the bin in Austria (WWF, 2016).

Adults, couples and solo travellers who consciously seek peace and quiet. With a maximum of 30 guests at a time, the house remains exclusive and personal.
What does Hotel Sonnfeld do for the environment?
Photovoltaic systems cover around 50 % of annual electricity needs, a solar system supports the hot water supply, the garden is watered 100 % with our own spring water, and two 11 kW wallboxes charge electric cars.
